Mr. Richard Kielty

Dear Students, Staff, and Community:

It is an honor and a privilege to assume the role as your new Principal. I look forward to a great year during these interesting times. I am excited to work with a district that is committed to academics, athletics, and activities.

Just after high school, I entered the Air Force where I served in the security forces. After I was discharged, I worked a few jobs, but soon realized that I needed a college degree. I worked a variety of jobs while attending college and well into my teaching career. I worked in areas such as; the service industry, agriculture, manufacturing, construction, and in the transportation field. These experiences help to hone my skills as an industrial technology (shop) teacher. In education, I attended St. Cloud State University for both my bachelor’s and master’s degree. I also attended Iowa State University for my PhD program in industrial technology education and engineering. I returned to St. Cloud State University and received my K-12 Principal license. As an educator, I have taught at a variety of levels such as: universities, junior high and middle school, high school, and an area learning center.

My wife Tammy and I have 6 children of our own. Several years ago, we became emergency foster parents to 4 young siblings. We then had the opportunity to adopt them and because of this, we spend most of our time with our whole family. With my wife as an electrical engineer and me in education, life can be pretty busy. Whatever spare time I have is spent, riding my Harley and listening to music.

My educational philosophy is that ALL students can learn. Every student should have the opportunity to be successful no matter what their backgrounds may be. It is our responsibility to provide each student with the tools to be successful in today’s society.
