A.L.L. Mustang Awards 2017-2018

Feature image-3

Alex H.
I would like to nominate Alex H. for All Mustang.  Alex was exceptional for us in boy's basketball, his work ethic was second to none, came prepared each day to work hard, listen, learn and then try to improve himself and his team.  Alex was always very courteous and respectful to his coaches and teammates.  H would work hard to improve himself and his teammates every day, whether it would be on the basketball court or the weight room.  His attitude was tremendous and he would ask his coaches what he could do to improve himself.
Tessa C.
Tessa is a driving force for the play, she has to split her time between school, softball, work and theater. She manages them all very well. She is always to work,  lend a hand, and help out with anything possible.
Cody W.
Cody has made great contributions to the robotics team this year. He consistently works hard every day, and goes above and beyond by putting in extra hours to make sure the robot is completed on time.  Also, Cody showed his dedication to Mustang Football by attending summer strength and conditioning and he continues to work hard in the weight room during the early mornings, rarely missing the opportunity to work out.  In the classroom Cody strives to do his best and is always very polite and respectful to teachers and classmates. Cody is meticulous in his work in the classroom and shop.  He takes great pride in his craftsmanship of his woods projects.  I rely on him to assist other students who need additional help as he is patient and knowledgeable. Cody sets a good example in the classroom and shop with mature behavior and team player attitude.
Sarah K.
Sara has made a huge impact on the girls basketball program. She works extremely hard in the off-season to improve her individual skills to be the best player she can be. She has a strong work ethic and passion for the game. She is always looking for ways to get her teammates involved and help them be successful as well as strategies to help the team win. In 26 games this season, she scored 408 points, grabbed 354 rebounds, had 23 blocks, 62 steals, and 59 assists, while shooting almost 37% from the field. Her attitude, work ethic, and commitment along with her stats is what makes her a great candidate for the All-Mustang Award.
Brock L.
I would like to make sure that you and your staff know that Brock has been an exemplary student athlete in our Hutchinson-BLHS wrestling program.  He is a captain on our team and an excellent leader and role model for our student athletes.  He is a fierce competitor often taking on the toughest competition that he can from each of the teams that we compete against (within his weight limitations of course).  Brock has had an amazing career wrestling for us and is on pace to break our all-time win mark set for varsity career wins.  Brock is always a respectful young man who I think appreciates and understands his opportunity to compete in the great sport of wrestling and makes the most of his skills and opportunities.  If you need me to provide season or career stats along with his two 3rd place finishes at the MSHSL tournament, I would be happy to do that as well.
Calissa W.
Calissa is a worthy recipient of the All Mustang Award.  She is two sports athlete, active in FFA and works part-time at a local vet clinic.  She is a hard worker who gives each task 110% of the game, to the classroom to her academics.  This is her second year as FFA Officer where she is currently serving as the chapter Sentinal.  She has been active in organizing National FFA Week, worked with the Corn Drive Committee, fruit sales and member of our horse judging team.  She is a welcoming leader to our group and helps out other members and her advisor.  It can be answering FFA Questions or helping her advisor assemble binders or organizing fruit sales.  This can be seen in her attitude with sports, while she may not receive the playtime others do she attends every practice and game with a smile on her face an speaks positively of her experience.  She is also one of the few students who worry about getting her work done prior to an event where she misses.  Calissa is also one that will choose to put her academics first when she feels she has missed too much school.  She is pretty amazing for her age. I feel Calissa would be a very worthy recipient of this award as she provides leadership in many aspects of this school, is a great role model for other students and has a wonderful work ethic.

Hunter M.

Hunter is an active student at BLHS by participating in Robotics, Jazz Choir, Student Council and FFA.  This year he is serving as the Chapter FFA President.  In this role, he has provided leadership for the FFA tailgate parties, FFA meetings, and corn drive.  He is a role model for younger members as he is quick to welcome them and involve them in chapter activities.  The bast two meetings he has had a random FFA member assume the role of acting president to allow them the opportunity to experience FFA Officer positions.  He has taken his leadership role in FFA beyond the local level and is currently serving as the Region V Treasurer.  His role at the regional level in planning and executing leadership events for FFA in the region.  Because of his involvement and encouragement, we have seen an increased number of members who attend FFA events beyond our local school.  Hunter is a very deserving of receiving an All Mustang Nomination.

Jacxl F.

Jacxl captain, dedicated to summer conditioning, voted volleyball MVP, outstanding in the classroom as a member of the entrepreneurship class, very hard working on the court and in the classroom, excellent role model for younger students and athletes

Payton D.

I would like to nominate Payton D. for the All-Mustang award.  Payton has worked hard on and off the basketball court.  Payton has worked very hard in the weight room, in doing this he has made tremendous improvement on the basketball court.  He is more confident in his abilities, is more aggressive and holds his own against bigger players.  Payton has become a leader for us by his work ethic and has had two very good games in a row for us.  His stamina and conditioning is excellent through his work ethic, he has been asked to do a lot for us and has met every challenge so far.

Natalie K.

Natalie all conference academic, organized and carried through on nearly all of the volleyball special events and daily tasks, dedicated to summer conditioning, captain, great leader, kind and generous, outstanding in the classroom as a member of the entrepreneurship class, excellent role model for younger students and athletes.

Zachary R.

Zach was dedicated to the summer strength and conditioning program and it paid off greatly during the football season. He was our lead running back in a very talented backfield and rushed for over 1,000 yards on the season. He did this while also playing full-time on defense, and being asked to play in more than one position. His work ethic, dedication and ability to play multiple positions is a catalyst for our football program having one of the best seasons in school history.

Anna B.
Anna - all state academic, all conference academic,  hard working recovering from knee injury, dedicated to summer conditioning even though she couldn't fully participate until after preseason started, captain, great leader, great attitude, kind and helpful, excellent role model for younger students and athletes

Dylan E.

Dylan has been an outstanding leader for our football team this season. He plays both offense and defense and has played a big part in our turnaround season. His work ethic and attention to detail is a big reason he is successful on the field. He provides us with a huge presence in the middle of our defense and makes teams uncomfortable with his aggressive play. He is usually one of our top 2 tacklers for each game, but his main focus is to do what he can to help this team win and help his teammates be successful.

Victoria G.

We would like to nominate Victoria for the Mustang award.  She is the top runner for the BOLD/BLHS girls cross country team.   She has placed in the top ten in nearly all of the meets.  She is very dedicated and always gives 110 percent.  She is self-motivated, running in the off-season to help improve her performance.  She is willing to do whatever it takes to be a successful athlete and student.  She motivates others with her positive attitude  and never quit attitude.
