Learning Center Update - 11-1-17

The Learning Center is designed to provide child care and a learning environment for children ages six-weeks to preschool age.  This facility will serve up to sixty children with an anticipated opening date of Spring 2018.

The Learning Center will be accepting contributions from the community that will be used towards technology equipment and furnishings such as children’s furniture and large motor toys.  Contributions can be made payable to BLHS, please note in your memo “Learning Center”, and mailed to the BLHS District Office, PO Box 307, Hector, MN 55342.  Contributions of any amount are very appreciated and are completely tax deductible.

Learning Center Update - 10-18-17

Representatives from the City of Buffalo Lake, Buffalo Lake EDA, Krummalz Enterprises, LLC, and BLHS ISD #2159 took part in the official ground breaking for the Learning Center on September 18, 2017. Those present included:  Nancy Vandervoordt, Lorie Kirtz, Maggie & Ivan Wiggert, Fritz Amberg, Wayne Carrigan, Susan Krumrey, Kathy Kalenberg, Brad Krumrey, Michelle Paulson, Brad Dobberstein, Wendy Holle, Lisa Taylor and Kendra Hiles. Final legal document signing was completed as well.  Please watch for more updates as this exciting project progresses.

An exciting project for the communities of Buffalo Lake, Hector and Stewart has been approved by the Buffalo Lake Economic Development Authority, BLHS ISD #2159, and the City of Buffalo Lake.  The three organizations will be partnering together to plan, finance, and build a Learning Center.  The Learning Center is designed to provide child care and a learning environment for children ages six-weeks to preschool age.  This facility will serve up to sixty children with an anticipated opening date of Spring 2018.

As we progress with this project, we also understand that within our families there is a great need for children that are already in school but need after school care too.  We are working on a latch-key program that, with the Learning Center, will allow families to stop in one town to pick up their children after work.  We know what a convenience this will be for our working parents.

To date, contributions have been received from the City of Buffalo Lake and the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center for the building project.

Additional details will be communicated as the Learning Center building progresses.  Please watch for updates on this exciting new project!
