BLHS Elementary Earns "Reward School" Status
For the second year in a row, Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart’s elementary school has earned Reward School Status. With such a distinction, BLHS’s elementary ranks in the top 15% of all schools in the state of Minnesota.
In order to earn this status, test scores from the Spring of 2016 were evaluated and ranked in three areas. Those three areas were: the total number of students who took and either “met or exceeded” the expectations for their grade level in both math and in reading, the closing of achievement gaps among minority groups of students, and the overall movement or showing that all students learned or gained on their abilities in both math and reading. The percent from 2014-15 was at 81.37%, where as the percent in 2015-16 increased to 81.40%.
Such a distinction is not just a result of hardworking and dedicated students, teachers, and support staff, but also a positive collaboration with parents and other stakeholders of the BLHS District. In other words, a “congratulations” and “excellent work” also go out to those parents and stakeholders as well! Go Mustangs!
