Devin H.
Devin was very dedicated to the play.  He was always there, trying his best.  No matter if it was guiding other actors, cleaning, working on sets, coming up with ideas to make the play better, or just in general being my right hand, Devin was there every step of the way.  He was constantly going above and beyond. I can not think of someone that deserves this honor more.
Katherine H.

Katherine was instrumental in the success of the 2016-2017 BLHS FFA Horse judging team.  She had a wealth of knowledge that she shared with her younger, less experienced horse judging team mates.  She took it upon herself to find judging study materials, set up judging practices and online resources for her team to use.  She set a great example by welcoming the new members and regardless of their skill level she made them feel welcome and increased their confidence.  The team earned a trip to the MN State FFA convention in April and placed 33rd.  Because of her leadership, there are plans for future practices that include new learning experiences to increase the knowledge and skill of this young judging team.  She took on this task while balancing a full workload at home, basketball and softball while maintaining excellent academic grades.  She is an excellent role model for her peers.

Hunter O.
Hunter has been a great assistant as a senior in speech. He is pleasant to work with and always shows up with a smile and a positive attitude. He has helped our new speech students feel comfortable at practices and also helped them find their places at meets. He is pleasant, funny, and he has been a joy to have in our speech group. He isn't afraid to state his opinion or think outside the box when it comes to all things speech related and sometimes even non-speech related material. In track Hunter has started off the year on an exceptional note. He has finished in the top four in all six of his hurdle races and has branched out to trying a new event, long jump. He quickly became the top jumper of the group and has improved every meet. Hunter is also a great leader for our track team. He was named as a sprinter/jumper captain for the 2017 season
Kaitlyn K.
As the Student Body President Kaitlyn is always concerned about doing what is best for the students here at BLHS.  Kaitlyn is a selfless leader that strives to create a positive and supportive environment for all students.  She has been instrumental in planning and organizing Student Council events and is always willing to lend a helping hand. She is also a positive role model for the underclassmen, and is seen as a significant source of support and comfort. When asked to take on additional responsibilities she never complains- She simply smiles and takes care of it.  She is the tried and true example of a small town girl with superior work ethic and utmost dedication to her family, friends, school, church and community!
Dylan E.

Dylan has been a real team leader in robotics this year. In his second he is taking a main spot on the team and is becoming a large contributor to our success. He plays a role in just about every aspect of the build from programming the robot, to electronic wiring, to building and designing, to training in newcomers. He does all of this with a lot of passion and commitment to the team.
Keighly D.
Keighly has been our stat keeper now for four years, she is the official book for home games, she plans, organizes and carries out various activities for us in the boy's basketball program.  She has organized our clothing orders, parent's night, senior nights for the last three years.  She is very dependable, very punctual and will always do excellent work for us.  She makes sure our scores and stats are reported to the various news agencies.  She is very responsible, dedicated and reliable for the boy's basketball program.  She takes the work very seriously and excels at what she does, I really do not know where we would be at if she was not with us.  She has been wonderful to work with and we have great confidence in her to carry out her duties without being constantly reminded of them.
Jake W.
Jake has taken a leadership role for us in basketball, with being one of the two seniors on our team he has had a lot thrown at him.   He works extremely hard, gives everything that is possible for him and constantly thrives to improve himself and his skills.  He has improved his offensive game greatly, knows his capability and plays his role on the team extremely well.  Jake is one of our best defenders and being undersized always has to battle against bigger players and he still manages to be one of our leading rebounders.  He helps our younger players out with translation of what we want in drills and games, is very patient with them and has been a very good role model for our young players.  He has gone above the call of duty for us as a leader and a senior, sets a great example in school and at games, has been a good role model for our players to look up to because he is always working hard, asking questions if he does not understand and constantly thrives to improve himself and his team.  Every time we take the court we know Jake will give everything he has and will work hard no matter what the score is or who the team is.

Alaina L.

I would like to nominate Alaina for All-Mustang. She is a senior captain for our basketball team and comes to practice everyday looking to get better. She gives full effort every game no matter the score or situation. She will play both forward and guard whenever the game calls for it and is always encouraging her teammates to keep working hard. Her effort and attitude is starting to show with high scoring games and rebounds, but that does not show her true value to our team.

Brock L.

Brock is this year's male nominee from BLHS for the MSHSL ExCel award. This award recognizes juniors who participate in league sponsored events, hold leadership roles in the school, and work voluntarily in the community. Brock is a three year starter in football and one of the leading tacklers on the team. In the winter Brock wrestles. He has already attained all conference and last year placed 3rd in state. Brock is a two year starter in baseball. Brock has received spotlight awards during all three seasons. Brock volunteers in church, helps out coaching the youth programs, is a participant in the Cedar Mills Rod and Gun Club and participates in Adopt a Highway cleanup.

Anna B.

Anna is this year's female nominee from BLHS for the MSHSL ExCel award. This award recognizes juniors who participate in league sponsored events, hold leadership roles in the school and work voluntarily in the community. Anna is captain of the volleyball and track teams and has been a varsity player for three years in basketball. She is also an officer in band, FFA, student council and a member of the national Honor Society. She also volunteers for the blood drive, corn drive, various girl scout events and church activities. On the academic side Anna is an A student receiving all academic conference awards and spotlight on scholarship awards from the MSHSL.

Morgan B.

Morgan had to make several sacrifices as the volleyball season went along.  When Morgan was taken out of the front row and made a permanent back row player she met the challenge head on.  From that point forward, Morgan was pivotal in any and all success that the Mustang Volleyball team had.  She posted excellent passing scores out of the back row on a consistent basis.  Much of the success that Morgan had was not visible to an average fan or player.  However, our sets would not have been as precise and our hits would not have been as strong without the amazing back row play from Morgan.
Ash P.
He shows up everyday for practice a games with an attitude and mindset to get better and help the team get better. He plays every play like it is his last and gives his best effort every play.  He lead our team in tackles almost every game, and was a key player the other teams offense looked to block and keep out of the play. He was our defensive leader in tackles with 90 and was also 2nd in our district. His efforts earned him All-District and Defensive Player of the Year.

Jacxl F.

Jacxl  has made huge strides throughout the volleyball season.  She has been very flexible in her role, learning a new position as the season moved along.  Jacxl has a clear passion for the game and is always willing to cheer on her teammates.  Throughout the ups and downs that any sports season brings, Jacxl has always been an extremely hard worker.  She constantly stays after practices to put in extra work and has been battling through injuries without her play being effected.  Jacxl is a fun, uplifting, determined player and teammate to be around.

Bryan S.

Bryan has worked hard in practice and off-season to get better every single day and be the best player he can to help this football team win. He was not in the starting line-up for the first game, and played with a chip on his shoulder to earn the starting spot the next game. He leads the team in sacks and plays both defense and offense. His work ethic and mentality does not allow him to take plays off and play through minor injuries.
